We understand that seeing the school is an important part of knowing whether Winchester is the right school for your child.

For families of boys in Year 5 who are interested in 13+ applications, we offer weekly Registrar’s Tours and termly Open Days. These events offer a good way to get a sense of the community and culture that a Winchester education offers. Due to the popularity of both events, we ask that you choose between booking a Registrar’s Tour and an Open Day.

For families interested in 16+ applications, once your child is in Year 10, we encourage you to attend one of our evening tours in the Summer term or the Sixth Form Open Day in the Autumn term of Year 11.

Registrar's Tours

The Registrar’s Tour will give you the chance to see the school on a normal, working day. You will be welcomed by the Registrar and taken on a tour of the school by one of our senior pupils, followed by a visit to a boarding house with a Housemaster. The Registrar and members of the Admissions team will be available on your return to answer any questions that you may have about the College.

Open Days

13+ Entry

Open Days are available to families when your son is in Year 5. They are similar to Registrar’s Tours but on a bigger scale. Up to 65 families are accommodated on an Open Day.

You will be welcomed by the Headmaster and then take a tour of the school with a senior pupil. There is also the opportunity to take part in some of the activities on offer at the school. Senior staff host a Q&A session before lunch and you will have the chance to meet Housemasters and visit a boarding house.

Sixth Form

Sixth Form open events take place in the Summer term of year 10 and the Autumn term of year 11. Dates will be made available closer to the time. You will be welcomed by the Headmaster before being taken on a tour of the school, including a visit to one of our Houses. You can ask questions of senior staff in a Q&A session and will have lunch with our Heads of Department. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the A Level subjects you are interested in studying and about the extra-curricular life of the school. You will also have the chance to see some of the school’s extraordinary collections and to hear about Div, our multi-disciplinary programme, which is at the heart of a Winchester education.
