For the first time, after more than 600 years, Winchester College will welcome girl boarders in to its Sixth Form, starting in September 2026. Today we have launched a virtual tour of one of the two new girls boarding houses to give a sense of what it might be like to be among its first residents.

The annual Hampshire Climate Conference took place at Winchester College earlier this month and was attended by more than 200 students and teachers from 15 schools, with participants taking part in workshops by the Final Straw Foundation, Wessex Rivers Trust, the University of Southampton, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, as well as pupils from the College's Sustainability Society.

A new, pupil-led academic journal has been published, showcasing student scholarship in a variety of different fields. It provides a platform where ideas and academic discoveries beyond the curriculum are shared and discussed.

Over the summer, eight Wykehamists travelled to northern Thailand to launch initiatives aimed at tackling some of the country's pressing environmental challenges. Among these efforts was a sustainable project designed to help local farmers produce rice with less of an impact on the planet.

Jane Austen spent the final weeks of her life at No. 8 College Street, Winchester. and died there on the 18th July 1817. In the summer of 2025 the house will be open to the public for the first time, as part of a worldwide celebration of the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth. Through displays and artefacts, visitors will learn about Jane’s connections with Winchester and the story of her last days.
